Then, apply pressure evenly around the rim until the bead pops free. I recall my Dad using a hardwood 2 x 6 about 4 feet long and laying it flat on the ground so the end butted up against the rim, also laying flat on the ground. He'd drive a tractor's front tire slowly up the 2 x 6 and the weight would usually break the bead. (i tried that first, then went to the straps).
