Replace transmission seal

Jan 12, 2014 · I bought a 2004 tundra a few months back with 160,000 miles on it. I was underneath it just checking things out and noticed some transmission fluid on the front drive shaft yolk. I have read that this is a known problem and has a TSB, but I am not certain. There is also some hard grey putty like stuff plastered in the middle of the yolk coming ....

My first thought is that the new seal got damaged, probably when the axle was inserted. It's possible the axle end is worn. allowing too much play, resulting in the seal getting stretched out. It's also possible a poorly fitting replacement axle was installed at some point causing the same result. Worst case, it's possible the mating pieces in ...I could not believe how easy it was.
