Mar 8, 2022 · I’m trying to install NAPA axles (PN 948959) which is a confirmed fit for 1st gen tacomas with manual hubs, but as you can see below they won’t go into the hubs far enough to get a snap ring on. The axle shield fully contacts the dust shield on the spindle and the cv is fully seated in the front diff.In the pics of the Corvette axles on the other thread, the snap ring expands partially, and sits evenly around the circumfrence of the axle/CV joint. It offers a lot of surface area to retain the joint to the axle, so the load isn't very high and the joint stays put. In the pic of the FF axle, the ring is free to slop around in the groove.
